Condensation Control

Condensation can be a problem in older and new properties. When warm moist air comes into contact with cold surfaces the moisture leaves the air and condenses into drops of water. This can quickly lead to mould.

Water vapour is present in every home and is caused by cooking, drying clothes indoors and even breathing. It can be exacerbated by poor ventilation, houses with no damp proof course, inefficient insulation or other structural defects.

Condensation can be a complex problem and residents often find it difficult to believe that such severe dampness can be caused by condensation alone. Condensation does not necessarily occur in the room in which water vapour is produced. A kitchen or bathroom will often be warm enough to remain free from condensation whereas a stairwell or unheated bedroom, which may be remote from the source of the water vapour can be affected.

How we treat it

The primary way to solve a condensation problem is to improve ventilation. Our solutions range from passive air vents through to complete Positive Input Ventilation systems (PIVs) which provide a continuous supply of fresh filtered air into your home. We also offer a range of anti mould products that can be added to all paint types and even wallpaper paste.
